McComb Police Department

Gatlin - CopyThe great City of McComb, MS is where I began my journey of life. I am humbled for the trust that has been bestowed upon me to lead the esteemed men and women who make up the McComb Police Department.  The officers have taken an oath to protect and serve all those that have chosen to call McComb their home.

My mission is to continuously strive for positive growth and allegiance within the department. When financially feasible, my plans are to hire hearts and train brains. Various internal and external training methods will be conducted to foster unity between all officers, support staff employees, and others who are under my leadership. Continued training will better equip employees to meet the challenges we will face while performing our duties.

I believe that the McComb Police Department will be most effective with positive and consistent involvement from local Cities, State entities, civic leaders and elected officials. Also, the residents of our great City are essential to our success as a whole. We will strive to enhance all community relationships and actively involve citizens who want positive change. This bond is imperative to keeping our City safe for both residents and visitors.

Let us be an example of how law enforcement and the citizen’s work together to create a safe environment for everyone. Together we unify service providers through partnerships, engage families, and advocate for our youth. McComb Police Department will be an example that encourages economic development and new residents who want to be a part of our most prestigious City.

I have adopted an “open door policy” to all who reside in this great City of McComb.  The “open door policy” will give me the opportunity to listen to everyone’s concerns, suggestions, and prayerfully, have effective outcome.  I welcome new ideas and thoughts that will promote our City in a positive light for all to see.  There is an old and familiar proverb that states: “it takes a village to raise a child”.  Most importantly, it takes a community working “hand in hand” with law enforcement officials to ensure the safety of our children, citizens, family and friends.

I solicit your prayers as we walk by faith and grow together.

Respectfully,

Damian C. Gatlin

Chief of Police
